We are a group of friends who decided we needed to conquer a mountain - Ben Nevis in Scotland on July 1st 2017. We each have our individual reasons for hiking Ben Nevis and what conquering this peak means to us. But, the common thread is that we have all been impacted by cancer - either with the disease ourselves or a loved one close to us. We'd like to raise funds to support cancer research as this disease is what needs to be conquered! Since we come from all over, we will split the funds with NL Cancer Society, American Cancer Society & Canadian Cancer society. Every donation is welcome towards conquering the mountain of cancer!! I will be running the Big Sur marathon on April 26, 2020 to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society is the nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way - we all know a family member or friend who has been affected by this deadly disease. Having lost a grandparent, a family friend, and a close friend's mom to cancer, I want to help contribute to researchers and caregivers who selflessly help others. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual campaign spotlights breast cancer research, prevention, education, treatment, and ultimately, the fight to find a cure. The following organizations are committed to increasing breast cancer awareness through research initiatives and education programs surrounding prevention and early-detection, while advocating for patient access to high-quality treatment options. Organizations included in this Fund also promote awareness surrounding metastatic breast cancer--the most advanced stage of breast cancer--and provide supportive services for those affected by breast cancer. Your donation to this Fund will help these organizations support breast cancer patients and survivors as the fight to find a cure continues.

Help support my team, the Swittx Sunflowers for this year's Relay for Life of Gwinnett, presented by Primerica and Northside Hospital Cancer Institute. When my wife, Sara was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in 2022, our world was turned upside down. It was a rare, aggressive cancer mostly found in children, but it was even more rare and even more aggressive in young adults. Research and treatments were limited. When she passed away 9 months later, I pledged to direct my energy to helping fund research for cancers like hers. "Switt" is a mashup of her first and last name, Sara Wittenzellner. "Swittx" was the online name she used for her social media and livestreams. The sunflower was her favorite flower, what she called the members of her online community, and, ironically, a symbol of sarcoma awareness and hope. So in August 2023, I started the Swittx Sunflowers Relay for Life team. Swittx Sunflowers is a #GoldTogether team, which means 100% of the funds we raise is directed to funding research for childhood and young adult cancers, such as rhabdomyosarcoma, which took my wife, 29 years of age, after only 9 months of marriage.
