Leveraging on our strong roots, CX SP EMEAR has set a Big Hairy Ambitious Goal: To plant not just 10, 20 or 100 trees, we want to create a forest! In partnership with One Tree Planted, we are targeting to create a forest in Kitui. For every $1 you donate 1 tree gets planted. This project in Kitui, Kenya, is more than a mission to off-set carbon emissions, it is about empowering a community. We deliberately chose this project due to the potential far-reaching impact it will have not just on the environment but more so on the community as well. The Sustainability@VMware Fund will always provide a curated list of nonprofits that tackle critical dimensions of sustainability and conservation with their global projects. We intend to uphold that mission statement while rotating the specific nonprofits in order to capture moments of community engagement during Earth month or other company-wide sustainability awareness campaigns. Feel free to bookmark this fund! In this launch, we hope to provide an access point to anyone who would like to donate towards sustainability, but is overwhelmed by the diversity of issues and number of nonprofits. These four nonprofits were chosen by surveying the Atlanta and Palo Alto Sustainability Ambassadors. Each nonprofit works globally on issues that affect us all and have been vetted by Sustainability in the Office of the CTO. Sustainability in an Inclusive Future is about ensuring that people and the environment can thrive together on a livable planet. In support of that, we invite you to join our “PLANT A TREE” campaign. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity.
